What is included in Cloud One (Free)?

Cloud One gives you 1 GB of cloud storage, support for all common file formats, up to 3 active sharing links, AES-128 encryption, and a 30-day trash recovery window. It is free forever with no credit card required.

How is Cloud Max priced for extra storage?

Cloud Max starts at $24.99/month for 500 GB. Additional storage is billed at $0.15 per GB per month. For teams needing 10 TB or more, custom enterprise pricing is available—contact our sales team to discuss your requirements.

Is there an annual billing discount?

Yes. Paying annually saves you 17% on all paid plans. Cloud Scale becomes $99.99/year and Cloud Max becomes $249.99/year. Billing is automatic and you can cancel before renewal with no penalty.

Do you offer discounts for educational institutions?

Yes. Educational institutions receive a 50% discount on Cloud Scale or Cloud Max plans. Verification via an institutional email address is required. The discount applies to institution-wide deployments.

Do non-profit organisations qualify for a discount?

Non-profit organisations receive a 60% discount on all plans, plus free API access and priority support. Contact our sales team with your non-profit credentials to get started.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?

Yes. You can change plans at any time from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately on a pro-rated basis. Downgrades apply at the end of your current billing cycle, and your data remains safe throughout.

Do you offer a refund or money-back guarantee?

Annual Business and Enterprise plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Free and monthly plans are non-refundable, but you can cancel at any time with no further charges.

Is there a referral programme?

Yes. Refer a friend to FileWays and both of you receive one month free on your respective plans. You can track your referral earnings and history directly in your dashboard, with no limit on referrals.

What is the maximum file size I can upload?

Maximum upload size depends on your plan: Cloud One supports up to 100 MB per file, Cloud Scale supports up to 2 GB per file, and Cloud Max supports up to 5 GB per file. All plans support resumable uploads so large transfers recover automatically from interruptions.

Can I upload any type of file?

Yes. FileWays accepts all file formats including documents, images, video, audio, archives, code files, and 3D models. In-browser previews are supported for 50+ common formats such as PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MP4, MP3, and ZIP. You can store and share any file type securely regardless of format.

How does file versioning work?

Cloud One retains only the most recent version of a file. Cloud Scale keeps up to 10 previous versions, allowing you to restore an earlier copy if needed. Cloud Max keeps unlimited versions for as long as you need, which is ideal for regulated industries requiring a full change history.

What happens when I delete a file?

Deleted files move to a trash bin: 30 days on Cloud One, 90 days on Cloud Scale, and 180 days on Cloud Max. After the retention window closes, files are permanently erased from our systems in compliance with data minimisation principles.

Does FileWays support automatic backups?

Cloud One supports manual backup only. Cloud Scale runs daily automatic incremental backups, saving bandwidth and storage. Cloud Max performs continuous real-time backups with delta sync, up to 2 years of backup retention, and a 24-hour disaster recovery SLA.

Can I organise files into folders?

Yes. All plans support unlimited folder creation. Cloud One allows up to 10 custom folders. Cloud Scale and Cloud Max offer unlimited nested folder structures, bulk move and rename operations, smart folders that auto-organise by file type or date, and full-text search across stored documents.

How does file deduplication work?

Cloud Max includes automatic file deduplication. When the system detects an identical file already stored in your account, it references the existing copy instead of storing a duplicate, which can reduce your storage consumption by up to 40%.

What is the monthly upload or bandwidth quota?

Cloud One includes a 5 GB monthly upload quota and 10 GB/month download bandwidth. Cloud Scale has unlimited uploads and 500 GB/month download bandwidth. Cloud Max offers unlimited uploads and unlimited downloads with no monthly caps.

How does FileWays encrypt my files?

Cloud One uses AES-128 encryption at rest and SSL/TLS in transit. Cloud Scale and Cloud Max use AES-256 encryption at rest (military-grade) and TLS 1.3 in transit. Cloud Max additionally uses RSA-4096 for key exchange and offers a zero-knowledge architecture option where FileWays staff cannot access your files.

Is two-factor authentication available?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available on Cloud Scale and Cloud Max plans. Cloud Scale supports TOTP authenticator apps and SMS codes. Cloud Max additionally supports hardware security keys for the highest level of account protection.

Does FileWays support Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Yes. SSO is available on the Cloud Max plan and supports SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and Active Directory integration. This allows your team to log in with your existing corporate identity provider, improving both security and user convenience.

What compliance certifications does FileWays hold?

FileWays is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, and is fully compliant with GDPR and CCPA. HIPAA compliance with a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available on Cloud Max, making it suitable for healthcare organisations.

Can I restrict access by IP address or location?

Yes. Cloud Max includes IP whitelisting, allowing you to restrict platform access to specific IP ranges, and geo-blocking to control access by geographic location. These controls are managed from the admin dashboard and take effect immediately.

How are security audit logs handled?

Cloud One provides basic file activity logs. Cloud Scale keeps detailed activity logs for 90 days, and audit logs for 180 days. Cloud Max provides unlimited audit log retention with full export capability, suitable for compliance audits and forensic investigations.

Does FileWays sell or share my data with third parties?

No. FileWays never sells user data to third parties or uses it for advertising purposes. We are fully GDPR and CCPA compliant, conduct annual third-party privacy audits, and our plain-language privacy policy explains exactly how your data is handled.

Can I manage my own encryption keys?

Yes. Cloud Max supports customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), giving you full control over key rotation and revocation. You can also choose FileWays-managed keys if you prefer a simpler setup. This feature is designed for enterprise customers with strict data governance requirements.

How do I share a file with someone?

You can generate a secure sharing link from any file or folder in your dashboard. Cloud One allows up to 3 active public view-only links. Cloud Scale and Cloud Max support unlimited links with options for password protection, expiration dates, per-link download limits, and role-based access controls.

Can I password-protect a shared link?

Yes. Password protection for shared links is available on Cloud Scale and Cloud Max. You can set a custom password or let FileWays auto-generate one. Recipients must enter the password before accessing the file or folder, adding an extra layer of security for sensitive documents.

How do team workspaces work?

Workspaces are shared folders with customisable permissions. You can invite team members, assign roles (viewer, editor, or admin), and track real-time activity—all from one centralised location. Cloud Scale supports up to 3 workspaces and 20 collaborative folders; Cloud Max supports unlimited workspaces and folders.

Can external guests access shared folders without a FileWays account?

Yes. Cloud Scale and Cloud Max allow you to invite external users as guests without requiring them to create a FileWays account. You can assign them view or edit permissions and revoke access at any time from your admin dashboard.

How many team members can I invite?

Cloud One is designed for individual use with no team features. Cloud Scale supports up to 5 team members. Cloud Max supports unlimited team members, making it suitable for large organisations with multiple departments and locations.

Can I add or remove team members at any time?

Yes. Administrators can add, remove, or deactivate team members at any time through the dashboard. You can also reset member access, assign or change roles, and review activity logs to monitor what each member has done.

Does FileWays support file comments and annotations?

Yes. Cloud Scale supports threaded file comments and @mentions to notify team members. Cloud Max extends this with advanced annotations, resolved comment states, and file approval workflows that allow designated reviewers to formally sign off on documents before they are finalised.

What integrations does FileWays support?

Cloud Scale integrates with Zapier, Microsoft Teams, and Slack (basic). Cloud Max supports 100+ integrations including full Microsoft Teams and Slack feature sets, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Asana, Monday.com, and IFTTT. A full REST and GraphQL API with webhook support is available on Cloud Max for custom integrations.

Does FileWays run a bug bounty programme?

Which platforms and operating systems does FileWays support?

Desktop clients are available for Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, and Linux (Ubuntu and CentOS) on Cloud Max. Cloud Scale includes limited early-access desktop support.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. FileWays has native iOS and Android apps. Cloud One provides view-only mobile access. Cloud Scale and Cloud Max offer full-feature mobile access including upload, sharing, and collaboration. Cloud Max adds full offline mode with automatic background sync when connectivity is restored.

Does FileWays offer desktop sync?

Desktop sync is available on Cloud Scale (limited early access) and as a full feature on Cloud Max. Cloud Max provides real-time bidirectional sync with selective sync—allowing you to choose which folders sync to each device—and intelligent background sync scheduling to manage bandwidth usage.

How many devices can I log in to simultaneously?

Cloud One allows 1 simultaneous device. Cloud Scale allows up to 3 simultaneous logged-in devices. Cloud Max supports unlimited simultaneous devices, suitable for large teams working across multiple locations and device types.

Can I access my files offline?

Offline access is not available on Cloud One. Cloud Scale allows you to download files for offline viewing. Cloud Max provides a full offline mode where selected files and folders are synced locally and remain accessible without an internet connection, automatically syncing changes when you reconnect.

What happens if I exceed my storage limit?

FileWays will notify you when you are approaching your storage limit. You will not lose any existing files. You can delete files to free space or upgrade your plan to increase your quota. On Cloud Max, additional storage can be added at $0.15 per GB per month without changing your base plan.

Is there a contract or long-term commitment?

No. All plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract required. Annual plans offer a 17% discount and are billed once per year, but you can cancel before renewal without penalty. There are no hidden fees or lock-in terms.
